Shelley Frith
I'm a Wellington based abstract artist, living in Upper Hutt, working primarily with acrylic and mixed media. My work explores the relationship between structure and spontaneity through layered materials and gesture, creating balance between energy and stillness.
The Practice
My practice explores the tension between movement and control, using layers and gesture, removing and redirecting flow I create pieces that feel considered and dynamic. Influenced by how space, colour and form interact within environments, my pieces considers how abstract forms can shape the feeling of a space.
